International Volunteer Day (IVD) 2009
The fifth day of December each year is the International Volunteer Day (IVD) declared by the United Nations. The Day aims to salute all volunteers and to celebrate in every corner of the world for stimulating more people to volunteer.
Agency for Volunteer Service (AVS) is dedicated to playing a proactive and pivotal role in building a civil society and caring community through the promotion and development of sustainable volunteerism. AVS launches IVD celebrations annually to recognize volunteers’ contribution to the community. Activities of the year include:
- HSBC SHARE-TO-CARE Volunteer Campaign
Organized by Agency for Volunteer Service, the “HSBC SHARE-TO-CARE Volunteer Campaign” aims to mobilize the under-privileged comprising the ethnic minority groups, the new arrivals from Mainland China, corporations, volunteer organizations, schools, citizens and volunteers from all walks of life to form volunteer teams to bring care and concern to the needy families.
- Newspaper and magazine supplement and advertisement
