Western Garden Social Centre for the Elderly
The Western Garden Social Centre for the Elderly was established in March 1990. It serves the elderly aged 55 or above living in Central and Western district of Hong Kong. The primary objective of the centre is to promote the well-being and to mutual support of the elderly people by encouraging them to constructively use their leisure time; build social network and participate in community affairs. The secondary objective is to provide service opportunities for volunteers to serve the community and to strengthen the work of paid staff.
2.1 Social & Recreational Activities are to encourage the elderly members to participate in various indoor and outdoor activities to widen their scope of life.
Organized Activities include picnics, visits, birthday parties, song
competitions, etc..
2.2 Health Related Activities are to provide health information to the elderly
members and to promote their awareness on personal health. Health
Activities include Health Talks, Free Check-Ups, Group Morning Exercises, etc.
2.3 Learning Groups are to provide learning opportunities to the members and to help
to use their leisure time constructively. Classes includes, learning
English, Chinese, Mandarin and Newspaper Reading.
2.4 Interest Groups are to provide elderly members with similar interest
opportunities to practice their hobbies. Interest groups include Guangdong
Opera,
Calligraphy, Painting, Chinese Dance, etc..
2.5 Volunteer Service are to encourage the elderly members to serve each other
and other people. Existing Volunteer Service Groups include Women
Volunteer Group, Elderly Volunteer Group and Hair Cutting Group
2.6 Other services found in the centre includes letters writing and questions
answering.
2.7 Centre Facilities include Gymnastic equipment, television, newspapers and restrooms.
3. Senior Citizens aged at 55 or above are welcome to be a member of the Centre.
3.1 Produce valid personal identity certificate & One photo sized 20 mm x 30 mm.
3.2 Pay annual membership fee $21.00.
3.3 Fill in the membership application form and return to the Centre in person.
