Under the theme "Innovation, New Era of Volunteering", the Hong Kong Volunteer Award 2025  (“HKV-Award”) is now open for applications and nominations. The Award aims to encourage volunteers, especially young people, to integrate innovation and technology into volunteer services, expand the scope of service, and enhance the effectiveness and impact of volunteer efforts.The Hong Kong Volunteer Award 2025 is now open until 29 August 2025 for applications and nomination. (The deadline for the Caring School Awards is 30 September 2025).  

Welcome youth aged 12–39 to join the "Miracle Summer" Youth Volunteering Programme 2025, organised by the AVS Hong Kong Community Volunteers (HKCV) Youth Division. From June to August 2025, the Programme aims to inspire young people to serve the community and showcase their potential.

 

This year’s theme is "Diverse Volunteering, Community Engagement." AVS has partnered with multiple non-profit organisations to offer exciting summer volunteer services. Under the guidance of volunteer leaders, participants will broaden their horizons, build confidence, and enhance communication skills through service. Upon completion, volunteers will receive recognition from AVS, encouraging continued commitment to volunteering.

Approved by the Social Welfare Department, the Agency for Volunteer Service (AVS) will hold a Territory-wide Flag Day on 12 July 2025 (Saturday), aiming to raise funds for promoting and developing sustainable volunteerism so as to serve the community.

The Hong Kong Volunteer Award (“HKV-Award”) Presentation Ceremony 2024 was successfully held on 10 December 2024. The ceremony honoured over 32,000 awardees, recognises the contributions and achievements of individuals, youth volunteers, groups, corporations, non-commercial organisations, estates and schools; for more details, please refer to the awardee list.

 

“Youth Power, Volunteering without Borders” is the theme of the HKV-Award 2024. The awardees, spanning across generations – youngsters, middle-aged, and elderly – showcased the broad participation and strong support for volunteerism across all sectors of society, including recipients of a series of Outstanding Awards, the Heroic Volunteer Award for acts of bravery and a series of volunteer service-hour based awards was also presented. We aim to inspire more people to participate in volunteering and to unite the power of the community in building a caring and inclusive society.

The 5th of December is the International Volunteer Day (IVD) proclaimed by the United Nations to promote volunteerism, and to encourage governments and organisations to pay tribute to volunteers in recognition of their contributions to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Since 1992, AVS has been celebrating the IVD annually to show appreciation to volunteers, and to encourage more aspiring ones to adopt the volunteering way of life.
