Fight Coronavirus Together

The HKSAR Government is soliciting urgent support from NGOs and their volunteers to join its effort in tackling the exigency brought by the novel coronavirus infection. The Agency for Volunteer Service, as a pivotal organization in the promotion of volunteerism, is appealing to volunteers and organizations under our network to join forces with us in the “Fight Coronavirus Together” campaign. Volunteers can contribute by taking up logistical tasks that are of a non-medical/ non-professional nature. Details of the service are as below:

Time:

The related Government Departments will directly discuss with the volunteers on the exact service period. The volunteers will be on shift duties (daytime/mid-night) in weekdays or weekends.

Tasks which the volunteers may be invited to take up:

  • Assist in procurement and delivery of meals and daily necessities ("items") for persons / households put under Home Quarantine ("HQ") and at designated sites / camps by –
  1. placing orders with suppliers through telephone / fax / email etc; procuring in person the items from suppliers; and   keeping records of the procurements;
  2. arranging deliveries of the items through telephone / fax / email etc., and keeping records of the deliveries; and
  3. liaising with the suppliers, delivery agents and persons / households under HQ to ensure smooth operation of (i) and (ii) above.  Liaison with persons / households under HQ will be conducted through telephone / email, etc
  4. In respect of designated sites / camps in remote locations, arranging deliveries of the items; and

 

  • Handle the logistical and coordinate work incidental to the management of designated sites/ camps.

Notes for Volunteers:

  1. Volunteers who are interested will be referred to the related Government Departments for direct contact and work arrangements
  2. Volunteers shall arrange their own transportation to the designated sites / camps for the volunteer services
  3. Related Government Departments will provide protective equipment and service guidelines to volunteers
  4. AVS will take out Group Personal Accident Insurance for HKCV members
  5. Participation in this service is entirely voluntary. Related Government Departments have tried their best to plan and organise a safe service.  Volunteers shall take into consideration their own physical fitness before participating. Related Government Departments shall not be held responsible for any accident volunteers may suffer from as a result of this service
  6. AVS reserves the right to limit or decline any person's enrollment without providing any reasons
  7. By enrolling in this service, volunteers imply their consent to the related Government Departments' arrangements
