View All“The Hong Kong Volunteer Award Ceremony and Forum 2025” was successfully held on 9 and 10 January, 2026. More than 46,000 awards were presented across various categories, including the Volunteer Hours Series and Outstanding Series. The event also introduced the title of “Top Ten Outstanding Volunteers” and a new award for “Youth Uniformed Groups Volunteer Award (Volunteer Hours)” to honour outstanding volunteers, youth volunteers/groups, corporations, non-commercial organisations, housing estates, and schools, recognising their dedicated contributions to society. On 26 November 2025, a devastating fire accident at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po caused severe casualties and grief across the city. The Agency for Volunteer Service (AVS) extends its deepest condolences to all those affected by this tragedy.
The 5th of December is the International Volunteer Day (IVD) proclaimed by the United Nations to promote volunteerism, and to encourage governments and organisations to pay tribute to volunteers in recognition of their contributions to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Since 1992, AVS has been celebrating the IVD annually to show appreciation to volunteers, and to encourage more aspiring ones to adopt the volunteering way of life.
The Agency for Volunteer Service (AVS) has been organizing and managing volunteers to support various mega Hong Kong events, possessing extensive volunteer service management professional experiences. AVS was the co-organizer for the 2009 East Asian Games Volunteer Programme, responsible for recruiting, training, and managing volunteers to support the Games. In recent years, AVS actively collaborates with various partners to offer effective volunteer services management services in large-scale events, such as the Hong Kong Marathon, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (Hong Kong Section) Half Marathon, Hong Kong Transplant Games and Dialysis Games, Hong Kong Cyclothon, Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance, etc.
